Chess Lessons for All Ages and Levels in

Round Rock, TX and Saratoga, CA, and on Zoom

Meet Coach Colin

National Master & Chess Expert

I am a U.S. Chess Federation National Master (peak rating 2259), and am ranked in the 99.9th percentile on Chess.com in Blitz Chess and Rapid Chess. I have been coaching chess for nine years. In addition to my own coaching business, I am also a Coach at the Austin Grandmaster Chess Academy in Texas.

I am a graduate of Santa Clara University, with a degree in Psychology. I recently re-located to Austin from Northern California, where I was a Fitness Coach at Stanford University and the Assistant Rowing Coach for the Santa Clara University Women's Rowing Team. I offer private lessons and group classes, both in-person in Round Rock, and online via Zoom.

I am committed to the game of chess and want to continue to share my knowledge and love of the game with my students. I will help your student work toward their goals, whether they are preparing for a tournament, or just learning and playing for fun.

"Your ability to explain things is really unique. That was honestly the main quality I felt was missing from the previous coach I worked with last year...It’s super hard to explain visual skills through language, because it feels like you’re moving between totally different parts of the brain: visual to auditory, back to visual, and back to auditory. You’re really smart for being able to articulate that so clearly."
